Morgan's story
Afghan Hound Rescue Central Ohio is a 501 (3) c organization. We are an independent organization operating under the approved guidelines of, and in cooperation with the Afghan Hound Club of America Rescue. The group was founded in 1997 by Maureen Anderson. By the end of 2018 we have rescued and rehomed over 300 afghan hounds.

In 2018 Maureen retired to Southern Georgia however AHRCO continues under Maureen's leadership with the help of dedicated volunteers.

Morgan's story
Morgan was my first rescued afghan hound. She came to me in February 1983 from the animal shelter after surviving on the streets of Hollywood, California for several weeks. She was a senior girl who brought a calmness to my wild 1 year old afghan hound. In 1986 she was diagnosed with Canine Pericardial Mesothelioma. She fought a hard b

She fought a hard battle but succumbed to the disease after 6 months. We name our store in her honor. Funds from the sales on Morgan's Market go toward expenses for rescued afghan hounds.

Meet our Seamstresses:
Maureen Anderson - founder of AHRCO, retired OSU Administrative Manager, currently employed as full time servant to 3 afghan hounds and 5 cats. Born and raised on a dairy farm in the South Island of New Zealand, Maureen learned to sew at a very young age. Maureen sews collars, snoods, raincapes, jammies, boots, belly bands, aprons, and miscellaneous other items. In 2018 Maureen retired to Southern Georgia but continues to sew to benefit our hounds.
Darla Miller - Blu Hill Afghan Hounds, retired Home Economics teacher. School Counselor. Owner, responsible breeder of beautiful show afghan hounds and rescuer of afghan hounds in need. Darla is part of the design team who created our rainsuit pattern. Darla sews rainsuits, boots, jammies and snoods.
Susan Lutz: Retired from OSU Medical Center to the Georgia sunshine. Enjoys life with her afghan hounds , sewing and photography.
